Gerald Vizenor
Gerald Robert Vizenor (born October 22, 1934 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is a Native American writer and university professor.
Life
Vizenor is a member of the Chippewa tribe of Minnesota.
From 1978 to 1985 he was Professor of American Indian Studies at the University of Minnesota . He later took on a professorship at the University of California, Berkeley . Today he is Professor of American Studies at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque .

In his poems (mostly in haiku form) and novels, he takes up the understanding of nature, the myths and the everyday understanding of his tribe.
