Wolfgang Tillmann

Wolfgang Tillmann (born November 10, 1961 in Cologne ) is a German engineer and professor for materials technology at the Technical University of Dortmund .

Life

After studying mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University and studying business administration at the FernUniversität in Hagen , Tillmann received his doctorate in 1992 at RWTH Aachen University on the subject of active soldering of non-oxide engineering ceramics . He worked as a research assistant in the teaching and research area of ​​materials science, where he later became chief engineer.

In the meantime, Tillmann switched to Hilti AG , where he was department head for materials and mechanics and then headed the diamond technology business unit within Hilti Deutschland GmbH. In 2002 he accepted an appointment at the University of Dortmund. From 2005 to 2008 he was dean and since 2008 he is vice dean of the mechanical engineering faculty at the Technical University of Dortmund.

For his achievements, Tillmann received the Borchers plaque from RWTH Aachen University in 1993 and the Rudolf von Bennigsen Foerder Prize from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1994 .
