Wolfgang in the Wiesche

Wolfgang in der Wiesche (born October 7, 1960 in Braunschweig ) is a German artist. He works in the media of painting, (digital) graphics, photography, media art and as a composer and musician.

Life

In the Wiesche did his Abitur in 1980 at the Gaußschule in Braunschweig. In 1990 he completed his studies at the University of Fine Arts Braunschweig as a master student in painting under Peter Voigt with distinction. Between 1992 and 2006 he lived alternately in the People's Republic of China , India and Germany. In 1995 his work was shown in the solo exhibition “kai fang zhi wu | open house ”presented by the Hanmo Art Gallery in Beijing. There he also worked as a sound engineering director and production manager for international jazz and pop festivals in the PR China, in Germany as a freelance writer and presenter for Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), editor at Wellershaus in Hamburg. In his series "From the Middle Kingdom, Rock and Pop from China" between 1996 and 2001, he presented Chinese rock, pop and musical experiments.

As a composer he works internationally for experimental films, independent theater groups, performance, installation, media art and independent projects. 2012–13, his work was honored and supported by an annual grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation , New York. A selection of works in Wiesches was shown in 2014 at “Photo Beijing” in the Millenium Monument / World Art Museum, Beijing, and in 2015 “The 10th China Photography Art Festival” in the Ningbo Museum of Art in Ningbo. In 2015 he was a participating artist and coordinator Germany at the 2nd TNeF, International Transcultural Network Festival in Seoul, South Korea.

In der Wiesche is a member of ARTWARD, Munich (since 2014), ARTWORKS.ART, Basel (since 2019) and SINGULART, Paris (since 2020) as well as an annual participant of the Artcamp Siegen for contemporary photography since 2016.
