Wolfram Ruf

Wolfram Ruf (* 1958 ) is a German doctor (hematology).

Ruf studied medicine at the University of Giessen and was a doctoral candidate in the clinical research group Blood Coagulation and Thrombosis of the Max Planck Society from 1984 to 1988 . From 1988 he was at the Scripps Research Institute , where he received a full professorship in 1996. In 2012 he received a Humboldt Professorship and since 2014 Professor of Experimental Hemostasis and Scientific Director of the Center for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (CTH) at the University of Medicine of the University of Mainz .

It deals with blood clotting and the enzymes involved (especially thromboplastin ) and signaling factors and signaling pathways, the interaction with the immune system, the role in cancer, inflammation, angiogenesis and obesity.

In 2005 he received the American Heart Association's Special Recognition Award in Thrombosis .
