World Popular Song Festival
The World Popular Song Festival ( Japanese 世界 歌 謡 祭 , sekai kayō-sai; also known as 東洋 の ユ ー ロ ビ ジ ョ ン , Tōyō no yūrobijon, "Eurovision Asia" or Yamaha Music Festival ) was a song competition of the Yamaha Music Foundation , which ran from 1970 to 1989 took place in Nippon Budōkan in Tokyo .
Around 30 singers and music groups from all over the world competed in the competition so that the winner of the Grand Prix was ultimately determined by an international jury. The most successful country was the United Kingdom with five wins.
