Pseudo Echo is an Australian pop band from Melbourne , which was founded in the early 1980s by school friends Brian Canham ( vocals , guitar , keyboards ) and Pierre Gigliotti ( bass , keyboards). Other band members were Anthony Argiro (drums) and Tony Lugton (guitar and keyboard). They were later followed as new members by the brothers Vince Leigh ( drums ) and James Leigh (keyboard).

The formation had a number one hit in their homeland in 1987 with their cover version of the song Funkytown by Lipps, Inc. and reached the top 10 in the US and UK .
