Yamaha Music Foundation

The Yamaha Music Foundation ( Japanese 一般 財 団 法人 ヤ マ ハ 音 楽 振興 会 , zaidan-hōjin yamaha ongaku shinkōkai , German "Yamaha Foundation for Music Promotion") is a Japanese foundation established in 1966 with headquarters in Meguro , Tokyo for the purpose of promoting and popularizing of music founded by the instrument maker Yamaha KK .

In 1954 Yamaha began a program for music lessons, in 1959 the "Yamaha Music School" developed from it ( ヤ マ ハ 音 楽 教室 , Yamaha ongaku kyōshitsu , English Yamaha Music School ). The foundation was established in 1966, and further music schools were opened overseas in the following years.

From 1970 to 1989 the foundation organized the World Popular Song Festival .
