World Standards Cooperation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The World Standards Cooperation (WSC) is the joint venture of three global organizations of standardization . The IEC , ISO, and ITU created the WSC in 2001 to strengthen and promote the voluntary, consensus- based system of standardization .

The WSC worked out a common precaution to call for early identification of patents on the first page of all draft standards to notify affected patents. Being able to refuse licenses or only issue them at an inflated price is contrary to the goals of standardization.

The chairmanship and secretariat of the WSC are held by a different member organization every year, following the principle of rotation . Activities include organizing workshops .

Every year, the WSC proclaims October 14th as World Standards Day to honor those involved in voluntary technical agreements that are published as international standards.

Before the WSC existed, World Standards Day was an initiative of the IEC and ISO. Since the cooperation with the ITU has existed, the United Nations has been involved through it . The IEC and ISO are private organizations.
