Wostok is a herbal lemonade that is sold by Baikal Getränke GmbH in Berlin-Kreuzberg .

history

According to the company, a similar lemonade under the name Baikal was a popular drink in the Soviet Union , invented in 1973 by the Moscow State Institute of Non-Alcoholic Drinks, Brewing and Viticulture of the Academy of Agriculture . With the dissolution of the Soviet Union, however, Baikal was largely ousted from the market by Coca-Cola and other American beverage brands.

In 2008, Joris van Velzen, who had worked as a photographer in Moscow for several years from 1989, developed the Wostok shower based on Baikal . He adapted the Baikal formula, which he received from Professor Lev Oganessjanz, to his own ideas and German regulations, and launched the drink in 2009.
