Wowoni or Wawonii is a 715 km² large Indonesian island in the Banda Sea , belonging to the province of Southeast Sulawesi , in the southeast of Sulawesi with 28,944 inhabitants (2010).
Wowoni Island was formerly part of the administrative district ( Kabupaten ) Konawe Selatan and has been a separate administrative district Konawe Kepulauan since 2013 .
