Microsoft Write or short write was in Microsoft Windows integrated word processor. Windows NT 3.51 was the last operating system to include Microsoft Write. Since Windows 95 is WordPad integrated and is thus regarded as the successor to Microsoft Write.

history

The first version of Windows, Windows 1.0 , on November 20, 1985, first included Microsoft Write. In the course of the development of Windows, the program was only slightly updated. In the first versions only write files (with the file extension .wri) were supported. It was only with the modernization of Microsoft Word for Windows in 1989 and the introduction of Microsoft Windows 3.0 that Write also supported the Microsoft Word format of .docthat time, which was replaced by the .docxformat in Office 2007 . The NT versions were 16-bit programs ( New Executable Format ).

Functions

Compared to WordPad, it offers few functions for formatting a text.

Fonts

It is not possible to change the font color with Microsoft Write. Furthermore, the program only supports TrueType and sans serif fonts. However, the standard font can be changed.
