Writing ( German  "writing") is a song by British singer and composer Elton John , the lyrics were by Bernie Taupin wrote.

The album `` Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy '' was realized as a concept album and takes up in chronological order as well as with autobiographical intention John and Taupin's life in London from 1967 to 1970. “Writing” is the eighth of ten songs. The conceptual plot continues with the title We All Fall In Love Sometimes .

background

The most important thing for John and Taupin these days in London were the many and repeated attempts to develop, try out, discard and start over again and again. The perfect, later teamwork that made it possible for them to record and successfully market a dozen albums and a large number of additional songs at the beginning of the 1970s was the result of this time.

Her everyday life was anything but hectic and did not follow a schedule ("Lazy days my razor blade could use a better edge"). However, as the two of them composed consistently, a single-mindedness could be seen in them (“Not the kind to dawdle” - “Not really dawdling”). They kept each other happy (“It's enough to make you laugh”), only had the quality and harmony of their songs in mind (“Will the things we wrote today sound as good tomorrow "-" Will the things we wrote today still sound good tomorrow ") and wanted to be left alone (" But don't disturb us if you hear us trying "-" But don't disturb us if you tell us while trying to hear ").
