Throw lever brake
The throw lever brake is a handbrake on tenders and tank locomotives .
When throwing a weight lever around, the block game is quickly overcome with a small translation . With further movement, the translation increases so that the brake pads are pressed against the wheel tires with increasing force .
In the case of tenders, the throw lever brake usually acts on all axles , in the case of tender locomotives only on the driving and coupling axles .
