Wyse concession
The Wyse concession was signed with the Colombian government by the French naval lieutenant Lucien Napoléon Bonaparte Wyse (1844-1909), who was supposed to explore the Isthmus of Panama , in order to make the construction of the Panama Canal possible.
According to this contract , which was signed on March 20, 1878 , the Société Civile Internationale du Canal Interocéanique had the exclusive rights to build the Panama Canal.
