Xanthic
As xanthic (Gr. "Xanthos" = yellow ) one describes the tendency of a color to yellow, or those colors (with the exception of green ), which have a yellow component, like z. B. orange or brown . The opposite of this is called axanthic.
Xanthism in animals
Xanthism describes a form of albinism in animals that produces a yellow or red color.
Xanthic plants
In plants, the term xanthic describes a yellowish color of flowers in contrast to cyantic colored flowers. Unlike animals, this is not due to albinism. Albine plants would not be viable because of the lack of chlorophyll , as the chlorophyll is required for photosynthesis .
