Xcaret

Xcaret is located south of Playa del Carmen on Highway 307, and only 45 minutes south of Cancún , from where organized bus tours are also offered.
The park can also be reached directly through the Hotel Occidental Grand Flamenco Xcaret, which is located next door. From there you can take a boat to the park through a small canal. However, this is only permitted for hotel visitors.
The park is embedded in a tropical landscape and all buildings are based on the Mayan style. The main attraction is a kind of musical theater, which is modeled on an ancient ball playground of Mayan sites of that time. The spectators sit around a square like in a stadium, on which a very elaborate and perfectly designed two-hour final show takes place every evening, in which over 300 artists depict the history of the conquest of Mexico and the cultural differences of the various Mexican regions and states . The show is co-designed by actors and descendants of the Maya.
Xcaret also offers the opportunity to swim with dolphins , sharks and manta rays. The park is also home to a large sea turtle farm, where the animals are bred and raised to ensure the continued existence of the species.
For a length of about one kilometer, from one end of the site to the other, there is an underground river that can be swum through.
In the park there is also a historical Mayan temple , which was integrated into the complex. The zoo (with jaguar, puma), botanical garden, butterfly pavilion and walk-in caves are also worth seeing.
The park had 1.3 million visitors in 2015.
