Xellent

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Xellent is a Swiss vodka brand produced by the Diwisa Distillerie Willisau . It is also known as “trendy vodka” because it is often drunk in discos . Xellent is now sold in over 22 countries.

Manufacturing

Xellent is produced in Willisau from pure Swiss raw materials. The rye comes from central Switzerland , the water from the Titlis glacier .

After the starch in the rye has been broken down in three steps and the first mash has been created, the Willisau distillery is the only vodka distillery in the world that uses a special process. The mash is pre-distilled in small copper kettles in order to then run through a 45-tray copper bell column. At the end of the distillation process, the vodka is cleaned and then stored for several months with an alcohol content of 96%.

After this period of rest, the vodka is mixed with pure glacier water from the Titlis glacier in several stages, interrupted by periods of rest , in order to achieve an alcohol content of 40%. The glacier water is slightly alkaline , which makes Xellent one of the few pH- neutral vodkas. After the last filtration , the vodka is filled into the red bottles typical of Xellent .

Awards

Xellent Swiss Vodka was awarded the double gold medal by the San Francisco Spirits Competition in 2005. All 10 jurors awarded the vodka with the gold medal.

In March 2005, Xellent achieved the highest possible number of points (category 96–100) in Wine Enthusiast Magazine .
