Xiang Zhang

Xiang Zhang ( Chinese  张 翔 , Pinyin Zhāng Xiáng ) (born August 1963 in Nanjing , People's Republic of China ) is a Chinese-American physicist in the field of nanotechnology .

Zhang received the Ph.D. from UC Berkeley . He was an assistant professor at Pennsylvania State University from 1996 to 1999 and an associate professor and then professor at UCLA from 1999 to 2004 before joining UC Berkley. Zhang Ernest S. Kuh is Endowed Chaired Professor and Director of the NSF Nano-scale Science and Engineering Center (NSEC). He is also an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) and a Fellow of APS (The American Physical Society ), OSA (The Optical Society of America ), AAAS (The American Association for the Advancement of Science ) and SPIE (The International Society) of Optical Engineering ).

Zhang published more than 180 papers. His main research interests are nanotechnology, materials science , biotechnology and photonics .
