Xymon is free software for monitoring programs , network services and computers . The server / client monitoring solution is a free alternative to the commercial Big Brother and is licensed under the GPL . For legal reasons, the original name "Hobbit" was changed to "Xymon".

The software makes it possible, for example, to monitor network services such as a web server or an SSH server and to graphically display the current status and older monitoring results.

Xymon is mostly used in data centers to monitor a large number of computers.
