Yūya Yagira ( Japanese 柳 楽 優 弥 , Yagira Yūya ; born March 26, 1990 in Higashiyamato , Tokyo Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese actor .

He made his first experiences as an actor in 2003 in the television drama Kunimitsu no Matsurigoto , a film adaptation of the manga of the same name by Tadashi Agi and Masashi Asaki . He was best known in 2004 for the lead role in the film Nobody Knows , which is about four siblings who are left unattended by their mother for a long time. For his portrayal of the twelve-year-old Akira , Yūya Yagira was named Best Actor at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival . He had his second leading role in Hoshi ni Natta Shōnen from 2005. There he played an animal-loving boy who befriends two elephants.

He is under contract with the talent development company Stardust Promotion .
