YTL PowerSeraya Pte Ltd (YPS) is one of the largest utility companies in Singapore . Sales in fiscal year 2008 were S $ 2.793 billion and profits were S $ 218 million.

history

The beginnings of YPS go back to 1971, when the first power plant (four units, each with 60 MW output) started operations on Jurong Island. In 1974 another three units were added, each with an output of 120 MW . In 1988 the first three units of the Pulau Seraya power plant went into operation. As part of the privatization of the electricity industry from 1995 onwards, the generation and distribution of electricity as well as the regulatory supervision for it were separated in Singapore. PS was founded in 1995 as a 100% subsidiary of the state-owned Singapore Power Limited .

On April 1, 2001, PS was then passed on to the also state-owned Temasek Holdings . On December 2, 2009 Temasek Holdings sold PS for S $ 3.8 billion to Saber Energy Industries Pte Limited , a 100% subsidiary of YTL Power International Berhad . 1 April 2012 PS changed his name and became Powerseraya Pte Ltd .
