Yacht seaman

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yacht sailors are professional seafarers who work as seafarers on luxury yachts for a wage . The name was chosen in the 1840s for professional sailors who served in the Guards Pioneer Battalion and who were assigned to work on the royal yacht frigate "Royal Louise". They were quartered in the sailors' station on Glienicke Bridge . The Prussian Navy later put crews together for the royal yachts.

Private owners of large sailing yachts had to use at least 25 professional sailors as a yacht team on board for certain races on their boats, depending on the length of the waterline. An owner without a recognized sailing license is not allowed to steer his sailing yacht as a helmsman in the race. Yacht captains, yacht boaters and sailors should receive racing and prize money in addition to their salary or wages.

Eckernförde fishermen who hired on ocean-going yachts founded the yacht crews association in Eckernförde, which still exists today .
