Yahya II. Al-Wathiq
Yahya II. Al-Wathiq ( Arabic أبو زكريا يحيى الواثق, DMG Abū Zakariyā Yaḥyā al-Wāṯiq ; † 1280 ) was caliph of the Hafsids in Ifrīqiya (1277–1279).
Yahya II. Al-Wathiq took over the rule from his father Muhammad I al-Mustansir (1249-1277). He left the government of the empire to his chamberlain Ibn al-Habbabu . Power struggles broke out under the Hafsiden . This was probably one of the reasons why Yahya II had the city fortifications of Tunis built. Nevertheless, Yahya II. Al-Wathiq was overthrown in 1279 by his son Abu Ishaq Ibrahim I (1279–1283). He had Yahya II and his chamberlain executed in 1280.
