Yale Center for British Art
The Yale Center for British Art ( Yale Center for British Art ) at the Yale University is located in downtown New Haven in Connecticut and is home to the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside the United Kingdom .
The collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, rare books and manuscripts reflects the development of British art and culture from the Elizabethan era.
founding
The building is a gift from Paul Mellon when he donated his UK art collection to Yale University in 1966. Mellon was a graduate of that college (Yale College Class of 1929). The building was designed by Louis I. Kahn and is located on the corner of York and Chapel Streets in New Haven.
