The Yamoussoukro Department is an administrative unit in the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District , which consists of Yamoussoukro, the capital of Ivory Coast (combined as a municipality and sub-prefecture), and the Kossou sub-prefecture .
According to the 2014 census, 310,056 people live in the department on an area of 1057 km². In the north it borders on Tiébissou , in the east on Attiégouakro , in the south on Toumodi and in the west on Sinfra and Bouaflé . There are 45 villages in the area.
