Research and Development

In total, the innovation area of Yanfeng Automotive Interiors has around 150 employees worldwide who work in four innovation centers - Neuss (Germany), Shanghai (China), Holland (Michigan, USA) and Sunnyvale (California, USA).

The aim of the innovation centers is to bring together all research and development functions under one roof. In addition to consumer and market research, this also includes industrial design and product and process innovation as well as the "User Experience" area. In addition to the traditional interior business with door panels, center consoles and instrument panels, the development teams also deal with the interior of the future, which is increasingly being shaped by the use of new materials and technologies. These include, for example, functional, intelligent or adaptive surfaces that enable a new style and functions in the interior.

Yanfeng Automotive Interiors is also working on this together with external development partners. The company's own Business Incubator focuses in particular on the integration of new technologies into the vehicle interior. These include, among other things, HMI interfaces, light and display elements. Yanfeng Automotive Interiors exhibited at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt a. M., for example, together with KOSTAL, a provider of mechatronic HMI components, presented a module that enables the seamless embedding of user interfaces in 3D-shaped glass. This means that modern control elements and switches can also be integrated into freely shapeable glass surfaces for larger decorative parts of the vehicle interior.
