Yet Another Mailer (YAM) is an e-mail program (MUA) for AmigaOS -compatible computer systems. YAM is fully MIME compatible and supports PGP . E-mails can be picked up via POP3 and sent via SMTP , also with TLSv 1 / SSLv 3. IMAP is not supported to date (September 2013). Like other mail programs, YAM can arrange mailboxes hierarchically and automatically sort e-mails using filters. The graphical user interface is based on the MUI (Magic User Interface) established under AmigaOS .
history
In 1995 Marcel Beck started developing YAM. In its first version (v1) this was functionally still very limited, but this improved significantly in the course of the (v2) version. Version v2.2 was named the best email client for the Amiga by the Amiga magazine at the time.
In 2000 Marcel stopped his developments for AmigaOS and released YAM under the GPL . As a result, a handful of developers came together to publish the first version v2.3, which was further developed under GPL, in the following year. In 2003 version 2.4 was published, which in turn brought a further improvement such as the implementation of a hierarchical mailbox list. Version 2.5 was released in December 2007 after more than five years of development. This version brought numerous improvements in the area of the graphical user interface, but also detailed changes to the network routines. In February 2010, after two years of development, version 2.6 was released, which, in addition to some detailed improvements, also brought support for the alternative AROS operating system . In December 2011, version 2.7 was released which, in addition to numerous bug fixes, brought internal restructuring to enable internal multithreading. This was stated as a prerequisite for the later support of the IMAP standard.
