The traditional Chinese martial art Ying Zhao Quan , also Yingzhaoquan (鷹爪 派Ying Jow Pai , eng. Eagle Claw ) is one of the oldest and most complex of the northern Shaolin Quánfǎ styles . In addition to the long blows and kicks characteristic of northern styles, the eagle claw style is characterized by powerful gripping techniques, complex lever techniques ( Qinna ), throws and kicks, punches, pressure of the (vital) pressure points ( mand. Dian Xue , Kant. Dim Mak ) out.

history

General Yue Fei (southern Sung dynasty, 1103–1142) is considered to be the founder of the eagle claw style . This makes the eagle claw style one of the oldest traditional Kung Fu styles that have been handed down to this day. During the Ming Dynasty, the monk Lai Chin expanded the original 108 techniques into a much larger system that has remained almost unchanged to this day. The only public Eagle Claw Schools in the world are run by the daughters of Lau Fat Mang in the USA, the famous Master Leung Shum (in New York) is a student of Master Ng Wai Nung. From this famous line of Master Ng Wai Nung there is also teaching in the EKO. Although eagle claw is one of the most renowned styles, it is virtually unknown in Europe to this day. (The complete set of the 10 Chin Woo forms has been preserved in all schools from the line of Chan Tzi Ching up to the present day; otherwise the 10 Chin Woo forms of the legendary master Huoh Yuen Chia are very rarely preserved).

Principles

The eagle claw style connects

  • Elegance of movements and
  • Effectiveness of the techniques

like few other Kung Fu styles. In other words: behind the beautiful movements there are highly effective combat applications. The multitude of kicks and jumps is typical of a North Chinese style; In the opening of the classic eagle claw shapes, three jump kicks in a row have to be mastered. Characteristic are the grasping techniques with the eagle claw, for which special training methods exist. Among the approximately 500 different Kung Fu styles, the most important ones are grasping and pulling in the mantis style and the eagle claw style. In contrast to the mantis style, the eagle claw stylist uses claw techniques even more for levers, Qin Na techniques, techniques for acupuncture points and for muscles, tendons and joints. Hardly any other style is as largely systematized according to acupuncture points as the eagle-claw style and has such a highly developed system of Qin Na techniques. The eagle-claw stylist also uses the fingers for the claw techniques to perform targeted, sometimes fatal blows and stings. Many masters of the eagle claw style were therefore also trainers in the army or police. Because of the many dangerous techniques, eagle claw masters choose exactly how much they teach individual students.
