Yiwu ( Chinese  义乌 市 , Pinyin Yìwū Shì ) is an independent city that belongs to the administrative area of ​​the independent city ​​of Jinhua in the Chinese province of Zhejiang . Yiwu covers an area of ​​1,103 square kilometers and has a population of around 1.3 million.

Yiwu is an important center for trading small goods . 13,000 foreign business people live in Yiwu. More than 170 different small goods were exported from here to almost every country in the world in 2013. The city of Yiwu has the only Chinese customs authority at the county level.

The city is also known across borders as the “City of Christmas ”. Almost two thirds of all Christmas items sold worldwide are made in Yiwu.

Infrastructure

In 2014 a container rail freight train drove from here for the first time and as a test the 13,000 km record route to Madrid . This connection has been offered regularly since then.
