Yläne [ ˈylænɛ ] is a former municipality in southwest Finland . In early 2009 it was incorporated into Pöytyä .

The church of Yläne

Yläne lies in the Varsinais-Suomi countryside 55 kilometers north of Turku . The municipality had an area of ​​365.60 square kilometers (of which 22.66 square kilometers inland water). The church village of Yläne is located on the Yläneenjoki River a few kilometers before its confluence with Lake Pyhäjärvi . The former municipality of Yläne also includes the villages of Heinijoki, Huvitus, Keihäskoski, Kolinummi, Kurala, Kärrilä, Lietsala, Pramila, Tourula, Uusikartano, Vainionperä and Yläneenkartano. The last population was 2,109. The community was monolingual in Finnish .

In Yläne there was a chapel belonging to the parish of Pöytyä as early as the 14th century. Today's wooden church in the village was built in 1782. Another attraction of the municipality is the Vanhakartano manor, which was built around 1790, but in parts goes back to the 17th century. Since 2002 there has been a "Nature Cabinet" in Yläne, an information center on nature and the environment.
