life and work

Talberg was initially (1986) assigned to the "Young Jewish Art". As an alchemist , Talberg follows the ancient alchemical principle of the Conversio oppositorum , the conversion of opposites. Conversio as the reversal of opposites - solid becomes liquid, hard becomes soft, dark becomes light. Since 1995 he has been increasingly concerned with Jewish mysticism and magic . New photo series were created on extensive journeys, which in turn formed the basis for new painterly cycles. Mystical ciphers in the form of Aramaic characters , columns of numbers or voodoo symbols pervade his work and refer to different levels of meaning in a similar way to archaeological sediments . Before Talberg turned 30, he created his Arte Alchemica, inverting the canvases in painting according to the alchemical principle of the "Conversio oppositorum" and declaring the frames to be part of the picture. In the area between painting and sculpture, Arte Alchemica led increasingly to the examination of reliefs, the "manifolds".

Talberg lives and works in Heidelberg and in southern France. Works by the artist can be found in over 200 private and public collections as well as in auction shops. Talberg has participated in over 100 solo and group exhibitions internationally. In June 2011 the Talberg Museum was opened as an artist museum in Offenbach. Several years ago there were plans for a 15-meter-high memorial called Jakobsleiter , which, however, could not be realized due to a lack of agreement with the city of Offenbach, although an anonymous sponsor existed for it.
