List of breeds of chicken

Yokohama is a domestic chicken breed bred in Germany from Japanese animals of origin , which is counted among the long-tailed chickens . In 1869 the parental animals were introduced into Germany. This breed is common around the world and is considered to be one of the most beautiful chicken breeds in the world. In particular, the magnificent tail fletching of the rooster and the expressive colors are particularly effective on a green lawn.

Yokohamas are pheasant-like in physique and are similar to the fighter type . They are richly feathered and have the long tails already mentioned. The wattles are small and there is a small bulbous comb on the head. The hens are good chicks .

The animals are uncomplicated and hardy to keep. The stable must be set up for the long and lush tail fletching in order to avoid damage to the plumage.

This breed is kept solely for aesthetic reasons and has no economic importance.

Dwarf form

The dwarf Yokohama are enjoying increasing popularity and their distribution is increasing accordingly. The rooster weighs 800 g and the hen 700 g. The hens lay between 80 and 100 eggs a year. These have a weight of 30 g and a yellowish skin color. The dwarf form was also bred in Germany.
