The K5Y , also known as the Marine Type 93 , is one of the largest numbers of Japanese trainer aircraft built .

history

The prototype first flew in December 1933. From January 1934 to 1945, a total of 5,768 land-based K5Y1s and the K5Y2 float version were produced by eight different manufacturers. The further development of the K5Y2 was the K5Y3; it was equipped with a Hitachi Amakaze 21 engine and appeared in only two copies. The K5Y4 and K5Y5 remained projects. Allied code name: Willow .
