The Yonekizu ( Japanese 米 津 氏 , Yonekizu-shi ) were a family of the Japanese sword nobility ( Buke ) , Fudai-Daimyō , which was derived from Minamoto Yorimitsu ( Seiwa-Genji ).

genealogy

The Yonekizu were castle administrators under the Mogami until they were deposed. Then they worked for the shogunate. In 1798, Yonekitsu Michimasa (米 津 通 政) moved to Nagatoro (長 瀞) on the orders of Musashi Kuki (武 蔵 久 喜). With an income of 11,000 koku they belonged to the little princes, and so they were content with a permanent house (陣 屋, Jinya).

The complex, laid out on flat land, had three almost square moats around the residence in the middle. The ramparts and the innermost moat have disappeared, but the second moat is well preserved.

The facility burned down during the Boshin War, whereupon the Yonekitsu moved to Ōami (大 網) in Kazusa province in 1867 .
