York Archaeological Trust

The York Archaeological Trust for Excavation and Research Limited (in short: York Archaeological Trust ) is a non-profit educational organization in 1972 in York was founded. The Trust provides commercial archaeological services, conducts archaeological research in York, Yorkshire and across the UK , as well as providing publicly accessible projects, organizing exhibitions and publications to disseminate information on archeology and history, with an emphasis on the history of York .

The Trust's projects include the Jórvík Viking Center in the Coppergate in York, which is on the excavation site with groundbreaking finds from the Viking Age, as well as the exhibitions DIG: an archaeological adventure in St Savior, St Saviourgate , and Barley Hall , the excavation and reconstruction of a medieval house in the Coffee Yard in York.

Every year the Trust offers those interested the opportunity to dig for archaeological finds themselves ( Archeology Live ). The Trust also employs the City of York Community Archaeologist .
