York from Heimburg

York von Heimburg (born April 22, 1957 in Huglfing ) is a board member of IDG Communications Media AG, Munich, a German IT media company and marketing service provider for the ICT industry. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the International Data Group ( IDG ) from Boston, a global provider of technology media, data, conference and marketing services as well as direct marketing.

Career

After graduating with a degree in business administration from the LMU Munich in 1984, von Heimburg joined Compact Verlag in Munich as a junior sales manager for “non-fiction”, where he stayed until 1987, where he was most recently in the position of “non-fiction” publishing manager. He then moved to Markt & Technik AG , where, among other things, he was sales manager for all media brands and later also worked as publishing manager for business publications and publishing manager for all international joint ventures.

In 1992 he went to IDG Communications Media AG Germany, initially as managing director of IDG Magazine Verlag GmbH (since 2011: IDG Tech Media GmbH), to which u. a. the pc world counts. He then founded IDG Entertainment Media GmbH and other business units active in this segment in 1996. From 1999 to 2013, York von Heimburg was Chairman of the Board of IGS (International Global Solutions) worldwide, IDG's internal international sales unit, which acquires and looks after advertising customers operating around the world. Since 2000 he has been a member of the IDG Executive Committee based in Boston. In 2003 he became managing director of IDG Business Media GmbH and in 2004 board member of the entire group of IDG Communications Media AG. In 2007 York von Heimburg became a member of the board of the Association of German Magazine Publishers (VDZ). From 2010 to 2013 he was a member of the executive committee of the D21 initiative.

York von Heimburg is the managing director of IDG Tech Media GmbH, IDG Business Media GmbH and IDG TechNetwork GmbH, which operate independently under the umbrella of IDG Communications Media AG. The IDG companies IDG Entertainment Media GmbH, Online Welten GmbH and IDGPS Network GmbH / Allyance GmbH were sold to Webedia GmbH in 2015.

Von Heimburg has been President International IDG Communications (IDGC) and a member of the global leadership committee since December 2017 . York von Heimburg is thus responsible for all IDG's own national companies and the countries in which licensed editions are published. This is a total of over 90 countries including China. From 1998 to 2013 he was also Chairman of International Global Solutions (IGS), the international marketing organization in London.

In Germany, the media house IDG essentially presents the cross-media brands Computerwoche, CIO, Channel Partner, PC Welt, MacWelt and other special media. On the basis of these brands, IDG Germany offers services for the ICT industry and all other sectors in the digital transformation.

In addition to his work as managing director, von Heimburg regularly wrote the headlines on the front page of the PC world and a number of books in the 1990s. The following books have been published so far:
