Yoshiaki Kaihatsu

Yoshiaki Kaihatsu ( Japanese 開 発 好 明 , Kaihatsu Yoshiaki , born July 3, 1966 in Yamanashi Prefecture ) is a Japanese artist.

He studied at the Tama School of Art . He later received grants from the American Asian Cultural Council , the "POLA Art Foundation" and the Office for Cultural Affairs .

He has worked in many countries, including South Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, the United States and Germany.

He was represented in the Japanese pavilion at the 2004 Venice Architecture Biennale. He is known for his large-format installations made of foam polystyrene , such as the tea house Happō-en .
