Tama School of Art
The Tama Art University ( Japanese 多 摩 美術 大学 , Tama bijutsu daigaku , short: Tamabi ( 多 摩 美 ), English Tama Art University ) in Tokyo with two campuses in Kaminoge ( Setagaya ) and Hachiōji was founded in 1935 as the Imperial Art Academy Tama ( 多 摩 帝国 美術 学校 , Tama teikoku bijutsu gakkō ) founded as a spin-off from the Imperial Art Academy (today: Musashino Art School ). The Tama School of Art is a private university. It is internationally known as one of the leading art schools in Japan.
The university has a library and the Tama Art University Museum .
