Yoshiaki Kimura (born August 28, 1980 in Okayama , Japan ) is a Japanese opera singer ( bass-baritone ).

biography

Kimura comes from Okayama / Japan and studied singing at the Tokyo University of the Arts from 2000 to 2007 and graduated with a "Bachelor of Singing" and a "Master of Opera". He continued his studies first at the opera school of the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe and then at the Conservatoire National in Toulon / France with Udo Reinemann, where he graduated in 2011 with the "Diploma of Music Arts" with distinction. From 2011 to 2013 he studied "Master Lied" with Cornelis Witthoefft and singing with Yasuko Kozaki at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. In 2015 he graduated from the Trossingen University of Music with the “Concert Exam Singing” with Andreas Reibenspies.

He attended master classes a. a. with Wolfram Rieger, Felicity Lott, Rudolf Jansen, Wolfgang Holzmair, Matthias Goerne, Stefan Genz and Graham Johnson. He has received grants from Japanese foundations a. a. from the Nomura Foundation, the Rohm Music Foundation, and the Gotoh Memorial Cultural Foundation.

For the 2011/2012 season he was engaged at the Flanders Opera Studio in Gent / Belgium. In the same year he took over the title role of "Figaros" in the production of Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" at the Bamberg Summer Opera.

He got u. a. 1st prize at the 1st Japanese Song Competition and 1st Prize and the "Sakura Grand Prix" at the 11th Sakurapia Song Competition. In 2013 he was awarded the Gotoh Memorial Culture Prize and the Opera Singer Prize and the Fukutake Culture Prize in Japan. In 2014 he won first prize at the 24th Yuai International Song Competition as well as the audience award, received the “Matsukata Hall Music Prize”, the “Okayama Art Prize” and was most recently awarded the “Kurashiki Culture Prize”.

Since the 2014/15 season he has been a permanent member of the Bielefeld theater ensemble . Here he was, among other things, in the role of "Alidoro" in " La Cenerentola ", as "Manz" in "Romeo and Juliet in the Village" as well as "Elviro" in "Xerxes" and as "speaker" in the "Magic Flute" see. In 2016 he got the main role of "Howard" in "Dog Days", that of "Kaspers" in "Freischütz" and that as "Dulcamara" in " L'elisir d'amore ". In the 2017/2018 season he sang the leading role of “Alberich” in Wagner'sDas Rheingold ” for the first time .

In 2018/2109 he prepared a. a. a bass solo for Zimmermann's symphony concert, as well as the role of Peters (father) in "Hansel and Gretel" by Engelbert Humperdinck. In the 2019/2020 season he sings the title role in " Le Nozze di Figaro " and Méphistophélès in Charles Gounod's "Faust " at the Bielefeld Theater.
