YouTube original channel
A YouTube original channel ( Engl. YouTube Original Channel ) was a YouTube channel , that of YouTube was funded. The program was apparently discontinued at the end of 2013. Although the company YouTube has not published an official announcement of this type, all references to the program have been removed from the YouTube websites.
The support of the original channels could be paid directly to the owner of the channel or to the production company . These supported channels, some of which continued beyond the end of the program, mostly dealt with specific topics such as comedy, health or sports. This made it easier for YouTube to place advertisements in front of the videos, as it was easier to assign viewers to an area of interest. With this project, YouTube wanted to take advantage of gaps in the TV entertainment market . In early 2013, Google invested $ 100 million.
On October 22, 2012, Ponk, the first original channel in Germany, started. At times there were 13 original German channels (as of September 3, 2013).
