Yousef Hamadani Cohen (2009)

Yousef Hamadani Cohen ( Persian یوسف همدانی کهن; born 1916; died on March 29, 2014 in Tehran ) was the Grand Rabbi of the Jewish community in Iran . He held this position from January 1994 until his death.

In August 2000 he met the Iranian President Mohammad Chātami for the first time . In February 2003 there was another meeting between Cohen and Chātami. This took place in the Yusef Abad Synagogue in Tehran and was the first visit to a Jewish institution by an Iranian head of state.
