Yousty.ch ( spelling yousty ) is the largest online apprenticeship platform in Switzerland. It is operated by Yousty AG, based in Zurich. The operators pursue the goal of promoting the dual vocational training system in Switzerland. Once a year, the platform publishes the so-called learner barometer, which is created in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland and the commuter newspaper 20 Minuten .

history

Yousty AG was founded in 2008 by Urs Casty in Zurich. The company's aim was to create yousty.ch, an online platform that would support young people throughout their career choices. Young people should be able to find out about professions, apply for apprenticeships and manage their application activities on yousty.ch. What made yousty.ch stand out further was the opportunity to get in touch with apprentices and get a unique picture of an apprenticeship and a training company.

After 10 years of operation, yousty.ch became Switzerland's most visited private sector website in 2018 on the subject of career choice and apprenticeship search.

functionality

The platform is aimed at young people who are interested in an apprenticeship . In Switzerland, two thirds of young people opt for vocational training . Use of the platform is free and enables the student to find a suitable training company after completing the nine-year compulsory schooling . Companies can advertise their training positions free of charge. For a surcharge, the companies are provided with additional options for presenting their advertised apprenticeship positions. Professional associations have the opportunity to proactively inform young people about the professions they offer. B. To make niche professions better known. Teachers are also offered an online tool to keep track of the application activities in their classes and to be of assistance to the young people if they so wish.

In 2015, the business magazine ECO noted that the platform had developed into one of the most important addresses for apprenticeship seekers and training companies within five years. Today, Yousty.ch is the largest platform for career choices and apprenticeships in Switzerland. According to the company's own information, the job exchange is used by over 195,406 registered members.

Origin of name

Yousty is an acronym that is composed of the initial syllables for You r Sty le. As a justification, the company states that it is intended to express that the platform supports young people in their career entry and later career planning - "your style, your career".

In cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland, a study to survey the satisfaction of the learners is carried out regularly. The trend can be seen that learners are convinced of the apprenticeship. The platform also maintains a partnership with the Swiss Service Center for Vocational Training, Vocational, Study and Career Advice ( SDBB ). The collaboration was temporarily suspended in mid-2016 (as of January 2017).

Yousty also works with the CEMETS Summer Institute of the KOF and held several workshops in summer 2018 on the international promotion of dual vocational training.
