Youth Brigade was a short-term hardcore band from Washington, DC
history
The band was founded in the spring of 1981 by Danny Ingram (ex- Untouchables ) and Nathan Strejek (ex- Teen Idles ) after their respective bands broke up and were among the bands of the first wave of Washington DC hardcore . Bert Queiroz, also from the Untouchables, started playing bass a little later. A guitarist was quickly found in Tom Clinton.
After their appearance in a restaurant called Food for Thought , the group played other shows and opened, among other things, together with Minor Threat the concert for Black Flag, who are on tour in Washington .
At the end of 1981 the band finally broke up after their only release with an EP on Dischord Records . The record, which actually doesn't have a name, is later called Possible due to an announcement flyer from the label .
In 2012, Strejcek, Queiroz and Ingram reformed together with former minor threat guitarist Steven Hansgen Youth Brigade for two concerts.
style
The band played typical fast, hard - in parts a little simple and gruff - Washington DC hardcore. Comparisons are made with the bands in the environment, such as Minor Threat or SOA
In a text the band is described as follows:
[…] Faster and wilder HC of the first straight edge wave. The music is sometimes reminiscent of early minor threats [...]
