Yunlin tang yinshi zhidu ji

The Chinese work Yúnlín táng yǐnshí zhìdù jí ( Chinese云林 堂 饮食 制度 集Collection of Dietetic Systems of the Cloud Forest Studio ) is a one-volume (juan) work by Ni Zan倪 瓒 (1301 or 1306-1374), a famous painter from the Wuxi City (Jiangsu) who lived during the Mongol dynasty .

The word "cloud forest" refers to his Chinese nickname Yúnlín 云林 (hao). Ni Zan was a Buddhist monk and later became a Daoist. Together with the painters Huang Gongwang黄 公 望 (1269–1354), Wu Zhen吴镇 (1280–1354) and Wang Meng王蒙 (d. 1385) he is one of the "four masters" of his time (Yuan si jia 元 四 家) , the "Four Great Landscape Painters". The book is an important source for the history of Chinese food and drink culture. A recipe in the Suiyuan shidan by Yuan Mei from the Qing period, or more precisely: the cloud forest goose (Chinese Yunlin e 云林 鹅), goes back to this book. His poetic works are included in the Ni Yunlin xiansheng shiji倪云林 堂 先生 诗集 collection. A famous print of it from the beginning of the Ming Dynasty was reproduced in the Sibu Congkan book series . The last-mentioned collection also includes the Yunlin tang yinshi zhidu ji discussed here, which, however, has been made more easily accessible in the famous Zhongguo pengren guji congkan collection from the Chinese publisher Zhongguo shangye chubanshe .
