Yuri & Neil are an indie pop band from Berlin. The band achieved media attention in autumn 2017 with their self-produced emoji music video for the single "Dolphin".

The online platform 9gag shares an excerpt from the music video with an audience of millions on Facebook . Only hours later, the band is in negotiations with major music labels (including Universal Music , Warner Music , and Sony Music) and signs a record deal with the major label Sony Music within 24 hours of the video being released .

In addition to numerous press articles, this was followed by several appearances and interviews on German television (including ZDF, RBB, RTL2).

The band name is made up of the first names of Yuri Gagarin and Neil Armstrong .

2015: Saved my Soul / Sweet Divorce

Yuri & Neil recorded the singles Saved my Soul and Sweet Divorce in the Yeah Yeah Yeah Studios in Hamburg.

2017: Special material (Demo EP)

The band publishes the EP Sondermaterial independently at Bandcamp and on a limited compact cassette . It includes the songs Pretty Will and Carrying Wheel. The EP was recorded in the Monojo Studios in Kanin.

2017: Dolphin (single)

Yuri & Neil record the single "Dolphin" with the Berlin producer Tim Tautorat (including AnnenMayKantereit , The Kooks ) in the Hansa Studios Berlin . The record company Sony Music became aware of the self-made emoji video for the single and signed the band.
