Yves André

Yves André (* 1959 ) is a French mathematician who studies arithmetic geometry.

Life

André received his doctorate in 1984 at the University of Paris VI with Daniel Bertrand ( Structure de Hodge, équations différentielles p-adiques, et indépendance algébrique de périodes d'intégrales abéliennes ) He taught at the University of Paris VI and the École normal supérieure .

With Frans Oort he established the André-Oort conjecture about special sub -varieties of Shimura varieties , in a preliminary form by André in 1989, and in a more general form in 1995 by Oort. So far only partial results have been proven (e.g. by André himself and e.g. by Jonathan Pila ). 2016 he proved the presumption of direct summands of Melvin Hochster from the commutative algebra with that of Peter Scholze developed method of perfektoiden rooms .

He received the Prix ​​Paul Doistau-Émile Blutet of the Académie des Sciences. In 2015 he was elected to the Academia Europaea . He is a lecturer at the ICM 2018 in Rio de Janeiro (Perfectoid spaces and the homological conjectures).
