A counting board filled with coins

A coin board or counting board (also known as a coin counting board ) is an open box ("board") in which coins of different denominations and sizes can be sorted, which simplifies counting and calculating the total value of the coins. Some coin boards also support the manual rolling of coins.

Coin boards are often used at points of sale where the use of stationary cash registers is not possible or useful. Examples of this are flea market sales , commercial food stalls , or the sale of food and drinks at club parties.

Since coin boards only support the acceptance of hard money due to their design, they are mostly used in connection with cash cassettes , which ensure the safe storage of banknotes.
