Z18XE is the engine code of the car manufacturer Opel developed and manufactured gasoline engine . It is the almost identical successor to the X18XE1 and, like its predecessor, has the following technical data:

In contrast to the X18XE1, however, in the Opel Astra , Opel Zafira and Opel Vectra B it has an output of 92 kW (125 hp) at 5600 rpm instead of 85 kW (116 hp), in the Vectra C it is rated at 90 kW (122 hp). specified at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 167 Nm at 3800 rpm. It also fulfills the Euro 3 and D4 emission standards , while the Vectra C achieved Euro 4 . With the Corsa C GSi / Sport, Opel built the Z18XE into a small car for the first time, producing 92 kW (125 PS). The Corsa C GSi / Sport remains the largest motorized in the Corsa range.

The Simtec MS71 engine control works on the principle of ME-Motronic, a combined ignition and injection system with electronic throttle valve control (e-gas). The Z18XE has a variable intake manifold . The air mass sucked in by the engine is recorded by a hot film air mass meter between the air filter and the intake manifold . The high voltage generation for the ignition sparks is realized by the fully electronic ignition system via an integrated ignition module with one ignition coil for each cylinder.

The main structural differences to the X18XE1 are:

In later model years of the Z18XE, the exhaust gas recirculation valve , which was already susceptible to the X18XE1, was removed.

The successor to the Z18XE is the newly designed Z18XER with camshaft adjustment, which has been built since September 2005. It develops 103 kW (140 hp) at 6300 rpm.
