Nysa was a Polish automobile manufacturer in the eponymous western Polish city of Nysa in the FSO-ZSD factory. The state-owned company was founded in 1958 and covered the need for small vans and buses in what was then the People's Republic of Poland . A large part of the vehicles produced, however, was exported and was mainly used in Hungary , Bulgaria and the Soviet Union . After the political system change in 1989, vehicle production was slowly reduced and finally stopped in 1994 after 380,575 vehicles had been assembled.

The numerous models of the vehicles sold as Nysa (N57 to N61, N63, 501, 503, 521 and 522) were based on the Polish passenger car FSO Warszawa M 20 , from which another Żuk van was derived. In contrast to this, the chassis of the Nysa was not reinforced, i.e. it was hardly changed from the M 20. It was mainly produced as a delivery van and minibus. The engine was also taken over from the Warszawa M 20 - a four-cylinder gasoline engine with OHV valve control . With 54, from 1961 57, later 70 HP, the ZUK had above-average motorization for a small van of the time. However, the fuel consumption was also very high, the "travel consumption" of the 54 hp unit was given as 15 to 18 l / 100 km. the maximum speed was 100 km / h. In 1968 the vehicles were visually modified and production of the types 521/522 began. It is not known whether the later diesel engine of the ZUK was also used on the Nysa.
