M 20

From November 1951, the Soviet GAZ-M20 Pobeda was initially assembled from parts supplied in the Warsaw factory. By the end of 1956, the parts were gradually produced in Poland. The hatchback had four doors. The engine was a four-cylinder gasoline engine with OHV valve control (in series W × H 82 × 100, displacement 2120 cm³), which initially made 50 hp, later 70 hp / 52 kW at 4000 rpm.

The car called Warszawa was later delivered as an ambulance, a film projection car and a pick-up. In 1957, the front got a new grille.

The ZUK and Nysa vans were manufactured on the basis of the M 20 from 1959 .

The further developed successor model 203 appeared in 1964 with a notchback body and in 1967 as a station wagon . In addition, were vans and pick-ups made on this basis. On the drive side, it was still the 2.1 l four-cylinder engine with 70 hp and a 3-speed manual transmission. The far raised front section and small window areas of the previous type remained largely unchanged. The sturdy-looking car was advertised by the manufacturer with a comfortable interior, high suspension comfort even on bad roads, and with its effective heating and ventilation system.

In 1969 it was renamed 223 due to protests by the French car manufacturer Peugeot .
